The 170-year history of the Central Police Station compound comes to life on the façade of the Barrack Block. The light show will immerse audiences in a lyrical bridge through past, present and future.
PAST: Over the years, the site expanded into an integrated complex encompassing a police station, magistracy and prison, witnessing the development of Hong Kong across two centuries.
PRESENT: The site is conserved and revitalised by The Hong Kong Jockey Club. The project represents the Club’s long-standing contribution and commitment to enriching the quality of life of Hong Kong people, and to strengthening Hong Kong as a culturally vibrant city. Tai Kwun has been the colloquial name used in the past and is now adopted as a reminder of the historical importance of the Central Police Station compound.
FUTURE: Tai Kwun will offer rich heritage, arts and lifestyle experiences to cultivate knowledge and appreciation of arts and history.
Our home-grown local artist Lam Tung Pang tells the story of Tai Kwun through his visual narratives, inspired by the history of Tai Kwun and the city.
