Accompanying the Murakami vs Murakami exhibition, Tai Kwun Contemporary showcases the film Jellyfish Eyes by Takashi Murakami. This special programme also includes Murakami’s short film Inochi, the Jellyfish Eyes 2 trailer and a special promotion video for Murakami vs Murakami exhibition.
With his first feature Jellyfish Eyes, the world-renowned Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami tells the story of the massive destruction of the world and its last-minute rescue by solidarity, friendship and courage in a fashion that evokes the tradition of anime. A boy who has lost his father, Masashi, acquires a jellyfish-like creature after he moves to the city. Masashi later finds out that his classmates also have similar creatures, and it seems to be a secret unbeknownst to the adults. Set in a post-3.11 Tsunami Japan, Jellyfish Eyes invites audiences of all ages to join and venture into the extravagantly colourful and imaginative world of Takashi Murakami.
