Artist group C&G Artpartment present a general knowledge quiz on contemporary art and social life in Hong Kong. In “Not as Trivial as You Think: What is Contemporary Art?” teams will compete in the second iteration of the “Hong Kong Art Quiz”, originally developed at a residency with the Asia Art Archive in 2014, in which C&G addressed the perennial questions: Does Hong Kong have no art history? Is the information and knowledge on contemporary art in Hong Kong really that trivial? As a parody of the education and examination system in Hong Kong, this is a trivia quiz mixed with the qualities of a game show. There will be five duos of competitive teams made of artists, curators, and artists who will ‘fight it out’ in a live event. Audience members will also be invited to take part, with a chance to win a prize through a raffle.
C&G is an artist duo of Hong Kong artists Clara Cheung and Gum Cheng. They founded art space C&G Artpartment in the Prince Edward area of Hong Kong in 2007. Their artist book Not as Trivial as You Think: Hong Kong Art Quiz was published on the occasion of the quiz that took place at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 17 May 2014. It can be read at Tai Kwun Contemporary’s Artist Book Library.
