In an unreal version of Paris set during an unknown period, there is an epidemic of a deadly disease resulting from “lack of love”. Two old men plan to steal the vaccine to cure the disease, and they seek help from their old partner’s son Alex. Treasure-hunting does not matter while feelings of love do. Since Alex meets a mysterious, quiet girl called Anna at the old man’s place, the story focuses on the confused tangles of the two young hearts. This is a wonderfully romantic journey which leaves no regrets.
Li Chi Tak first watched Mauvais Sang at the Hong Kong International Film Festival and he was immediately fascinated by the breathtaking beauty of Juliette Binoche and the wild character of Denis Lavent. The powerful visual and auditory effects of Leos Carax’s film are also praiseworthy. The movie blends elements of film noir with uncertain fantasies, but it retains more futuristic elements reminiscent of sci-fi films. After the screening, Li will attend the sharing session to discuss his favourite movie Mauvais Sang and his comic creations in detail.
Conversation Moderator: Honkaz Fung: Filmmaker, Comic Artist, Curator of Li Chi Tak Original Drawings Exhibition “When the City was Young and Beautiful”
